Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on September 21, 1983 in Worthington Ohio, USA is an American actress. Maggie Grace is most well-known for her roles as Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills and Kim Mills in ABC's Lost television series. Maggie Grace was born in Worthington in Ohio. She dropped out of school when her parents separated to go into Los Angeles to live with her mother. In 2001, despite her finances she managed get her first significant performance in the video online show Rachel's Room in the role of Rachel's Room's main character. In 2002 she was nominated to receive a Young Artist Award with her part as the 15-year-old murder victim Martha Moxley. Grace Rutherford was the main actress in Lost for its first two seasons. In 2004, she was awarded the Screen Actors Guild Award with the entire ensemble. Grace left the television series in 2005 to focus on an even more prominent role in movies, and had a role opposite Tom Welling as Kim Mills in Taken. The actress was in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) and also starred alongside Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in 2008. She reprised the role as Kim Mills in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the main character Alice in Malice in Wonderland a modern take on Lewis Carroll's novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised the role of Shannon in two more episodes of Lost including the series finale. In 2013, she appears in Californianation, the 6th Season. A member of the Gyllenhaal clan, she is the daughter of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and is the younger sibling of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. She started her acting career in the teen years with minor appearances in his films. She also appeared with her brother in the popular cult film Donnie Darko (2001). Then she appeared in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal won critical praise for her performance as a lead character actress in Secretary (2002), an erotic romance drama drama and Sherrybaby (2006). In 2006, she was also nominated for her fellow actors for the Golden Globe Award. Following a string of commercially successful movies in 2006, including World Trade Center she received greater recognition for her performance as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). The role she played in Crazy Heart as a mother with a single child was nominated in an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. Her subsequent roles include Nanny McPhee as well as in the Big Bang and Hysteria. She also appeared as the role of a Secret Service Agent in White House Down which was an action thriller from 2013, a musician in Frank (2014), and The lead on The Kindergarten Teacher, a drama released in 2018. Gyllenhaal began her career as a screenwriter and director in 2021. she directed and wrote The Lost Daughter, a psychological drama. The Lost Daughter. The film won Best Screenplay at The Venice International Film Festival, and was later nominated by the Academy Award.
